Petting Zoo 2011

Drawing winners

girls – Melia D

boys – Marcus F

mothers – Crystal P

***************************************************

WOW, That was FUN! Besides a freak panicking beef cow running through our yard full of children, it was another great year(though my heart is still pounding after that one)  Don’t ask.

2009 – 20-some people

2010 – 33 people

Ready for this one?

2011

16 adults, 44 children, 3 little babies for a grand total of 63 people!! Thank you everyone who came, that was a blast(again, except the cow ordeal)

Shoes everywhere…

Elijah went bed just before everyone arrived and slept through the whoooole thing.

This year we had a parking plan and Jess and Jacob parked cars so no one was trapped. It worked very well.

Our attempt at a “how we use our goat milk” table.

Let the petting begin…our little twin doelings were well tamed(or in shock) by the time it ended.

The chicks and the baby bunnies were definitely the hit of the party.

We went from 6 wild bunnies to 6 tame bunnies. And you thought we were just letting your children come over to hold animals, our REAL motive was for you to instantly tame our animals for us!

So, if you’ve read this far you deserve a quick explanation. As the last families were leaving, there were still a bunch of children playing in the yard. The neighbors large beef cow had gotten out of the field next door and he had been trying to get it back in the field. It decided to run…RUN…through our yard of children. Poor little Zeke was running for all he was worth, that poor little thing, I hope it doesn’t give him nightmares. The cow then ran in-between a couple of parked cars(At this point I am thankful for homeowners, but the cow managed to not hurt a thing) and to the back of our property where Mr. C had the gate open, ready to catch her. We have NEVER had that happen, and it had to happen today, of all days. <sigh> Thank you Lord for Your protection.

Cup is Ruth E, germ x is Merriann T(I think), coffee mug I have no idea. But 2 out of 3 isn't bad. Thanks again for the fun. And I didn't mention yesterday but I have a slight phobia of cows!!!

Thanks Ruth. I remember looking at you and thinking how cool and collected you were! Maybe it was shock, lol? I was so scared as I know those cows are far from friendly or careful when they are scared like that. I keep replaying it in my head. Yikes.

sniff. We were coming. We'd planned and planned. I'd been so looking forward to it and I got knocked on my backside with a migraine that would've stopped a bull. I was sad and cranky that we couldn't come and wallowed a bit about it. After all, it's a whole YEAR till I get another opportunity. sigh. It was a great sadness.

I'm SO SO glad you had such a wonderful turn out and enjoyed your day. And I'm with Grace and can't wait to meet her stister when she arrives. :)
