Our new septic system is IN. Inspectors have been coming and going today, I hope it all meets their approval. We had gone out of our way to make sure the system was NOT above ground, but level. We checked with the county, our designer purposefully designed it that way…we thought. One small line in the wrong place on the design plans and we now have an above ground field, right in the middle of our yard. Sigh. Can’t fix it, by the time Paul got home from work yesterday, it was too late to change. Yesterday really was one of those days. On a happy note, we have a large excavator in our yard(in the pic it looks small, but it isn’t!) The boys go out there and stare at it….no doubt dreaming.
We had a mild winter and the mice and rats are terrible. This is our attempt at organic farming. Two new 8 week old kittens, Sadie and Tiggy.
If at first you don’t succeed, try , try again. Callie did not come home. We assumed the coyotes got her or she had trouble having her kittens and died somewhere. Craigslist brought us this look-alike Bailey. She was paper thin when we got her a few days ago, <again, sigh> but like Callie she is growing…and growing…in the abdomen area. We hope this is because we are feeding her so well, but a friend stopped in, looked at our cat and said “Oh! You got another pregnant kitty!” ….thanks Cara.
Then this morning after I went to the dentist to have them tell me there is nothing noticeably wrong with my aching tooth, we stopped by Lynden Farm and Garden. They had turks and guineas! I have always wanted to try guineas so we picked up 5 along with 2 more bourbon reds. So fun.
These older turks above are the only fruit from 3 rounds of eggs in the inky. Many eggs unfertile, some just never hatched, but these 5 are hardy as ever and feathering out nicely.
I also have a small little shihtzu that looks like she ate a cantaloupe. She is due any day with about 42 puppies. At least that is my estimation by her size, I do think she will make the Guinness book.
I love all the babies around.
