We had yet another wonderful morning at church. When I was young, I remember waking up then realizing it was Sunday and sighing inside, what was that? It was not fun, it was not exciting. We wake up Sunday morning and announce it is time to get ready for church and the children scramble to get ready...excitedly. I'm telling you, we have found a great bunch of family.
After church we ran various errands and then went for lunch at El Ranchito in Lynden. Great mexican food and kids loved it. Other than the couple sitting in the corner staring at our family the whole time, it was a relaxing time. Are we that unusual? I don't think so ;)
Anyways, we come home and Emma runs to see Penelope, she said "hi" and then the kids all got ready to feed the animals, which, Sunday or not, must be done. Not 45 minutes later Paul went out to his shop and then ran back in the house and said "We have kids!!" All I asked was "Are they alive?!" and he said "Yup, both of them!". I quickly wobbled in the house, grabbed my camera and clean towels and ran out the door to the stall to find two of the most adorable Oberhasli babies I have ever seen. The second one had just dropped out of mamma. They were supposed to be Oberhasli/Boer(meat) crosses, which was great with us as we were going to try raising them to butcher, but they aren't!! It is a win/win situation. We just doubled our *herd* and added another 2010 milking female! 1 boy and 1 girl. The girl is 6lbs 8 oz and the boy is 5lbs 6oz. He is small and thin but we got him to nurse and he filled up nice and tight. I am so thankful we caught it right away as they were getting cold quickly and especially the little boy was quite sluggish and weak at first.
This is my first glance at my new babies. BTW never call your sister when you are very pregnant yourself AND overly excited at finding two babies goats and announce "We have two babies!!!" The phone will be dead on the other side for a few seconds.
Getting dried off by goat nurse Jessica. I was proud to be this girls mother! Slime and goo galore and she scooped that little one up and wiped it clean.
My little girl up and walking right away. She is a feisty little thing. After only being out a couple hours, she would try to leap up in the air.
I can't get enough of them, arent' they sweet? My new goat friend, Mindy, came over...on a Sunday of all times with iodine dip and gave them a good look-over, dipped their navals and gave us pointers. What a great lady! It amazes me how the Lord just set this whole thing up meeting Mindy, finding a great priced goat, the testing negative, the purebred instead of cross...everything just fell right into place.

I warned you...More goat pictures coming!

Congratulations, they're so cute!
Again, you are cracking me up. They ARE adorable! And I do love to pet things, though goo-less, thank you. Mindy? Is she in parenting class with me? They are terrific sweet smart people that do heaps with farm-things. Unlike me. But I'd love to show you how to knit....by the way, we have had a ball with Gracie in nursery. Love that girl. Congrats, Jennifer! Marie
OOH, this is exciting. I remember when I was 3 1/2 or 4 watching a mama goat have kids. I will never forget it.
how adorable, I love baby goats.....and I don't blame your sister either, if the doc suddenly told you and Paul "oh we got two babies" I bet the delivery room would go silent too...LOL Jen, that just wasn't fair..though I'm totally laughing....with you so close to having your little one I bet your sister had to be picked up off the floor...lol
thats is precious! Cynthia
