Meet Penelope!

It's happened. My dream has come true!
My husband came home with a milking goat tonight!

Meet Penelope the Oberhasli. Isn't she beautiful? I just love her coloring.

Due to kid any day with oberhasli x boer kids

(that means they're good for eating)

You know how there is nothing better than to take a big whiff of the coat of a horse?

Well, goats come in second.

She is so sweet and small. She is just three years old and this will be her second kidding.

I am so excited to learn all about a new animal. I like to learn every aspect of health care and do it all myself. A goat will be a great new venture. Trimming hooves, kidding, diet, immunizing and their goaty quirks. Not to mention milking, managing raw milk, making quarts upon quarts of yogurts and feta. We bought her from a wonderful homeschooling family that went above and beyond the call of duty getting blood work done for us as we requested some testing before purchase.

Penelope and I are getting acquainted, comparing bellys and finding her likes/dislikes.

She snubs carrots.

Jennifer, you are cracking me up. Totally. I am so NOT a farm girl. I enjoy being a farm girl vicariously through others like you. You are amazing and so much fun! Can't wait to meet your baby!

I'm so excited for you guys! We'd love to come and meet her after she's all settled in. We can't wait to get chickens and join you in getting a milking goat. We've been talking about it forever, I think its time to get one as well.
