After waking this morning and having a devotion on bringing all our requests to the Lord, I was thinking of my trip to Bellingham this morning and how I need to find hamburger, a lot of it, under $2 lb. While thinking of how to go about finding this beef that I hoped the Lord would provide, I threw open my bedroom shades to see a large beef cow standing right in the middle of my front yard chewing her cud…right smack in the middle of the lawn. I often think the statement "God has a sense of humor" is misused...but I had to chuckle about this one. And unfortunately she belongs to the neighbor.

Fantastic! Sorry this very local beef was not available. :)
lol :-P
LOL! Did you know that when meat cuts like round steak, etc. go on sale, you can have the grocer's butcher grind it into hamburger? I often get quality ground beef for around $1.50/lb. this way. I blogged about it here: http://ahousefullofgrace.blogspot.com/2010/11/did-you-know.html.
Enjoy your day -- Sara
O.k., you say "round steak, etc"...tell me, what is etc? Could you throw me a couple ideas? :) You'd think I'd know this, but I don't. I am finding meat prices not friendly these last few months and Cash and Carry's meat is pretty nasty. Thanks Sara!
:). I've had round steak and chuck steak ground down. A friend of mine has done it with cheap roasts that aren't 'bone in'. The round steak has seemed like the best quality; probably where they get the term 'ground round'?! :) I guess I figure that since most hamburger is made from left-over scraps, I'm already further ahead by using something that would actually qualify as a 'steak' or 'roast'. :)
Also, sometimes our area butcher/meat processing place sells their locker hamburger for $1.50/lb with a 10 lb. minimum (which makes me laugh!) to clear it out. Might be worth a try...
Happy hunting!!
