Introducing…

A baby with a name! After many discussions and votes, Daddy’s pick for a name wins.

Meet Lydia Joy

Both my babies in my lap, and yes, today when Elijah woke up we both ran for the rocking chair and enjoyed a long, loooong rock-rock together rejoicing over reclaiming my lap.

Kids Say...

Daniel(9) My children are trained to answer the phone "Hello, this is ____ speaking" - Daniel, a little groggy early in the morning, answered the phone and said "Hello, this is Daniel speaking, may I please be excused?" Thankfully, it was Grandma.

Micah(5) This morning we talked about self-righteousness, then as we worked we listened to "Great is Thy Faithfulness". Micah was singing along saying "Great is my faithfulness, great is my faithfulness..." We decided he needed another lesson in self-righteousness. ;)

Daniel (8)"Mamma? If you had a baby with two heads, would he be really intelligent?" Mamma replies "No Danny, it would be two separate heads just like two separate children" Daniel - "Oh, so he wouldn't be smarter than me?" Mamma - "Nope." Daniel "Good".

Daniel(8, born ONLY in 2000) - "Momma? Was that friend of yours born waaaaaaay back in the 1900's?

Emma's(5) Words of Wisdom "The older you get, the faster you can ride a scooter"

Daniel(7) "Mamma? What's it called when a snail is on a boat?" "Hmm...what Danny?" "A snailor. I came up with that in my own head too!"

Daniel(7) comes up to me(34) and says "Mamma? Can we buy an old parakeet and name it Jennifer and teach the other two parakeets to say 'hello' to it?". Mamma - "No, you can't"

The kids were out playing after dinner and Paul and I were standing in the kitchen hug'n and lov'n when Emma(5) "Kramers" through the door, looks at us and states..."I hope you know you are married now."

I walked into our living room this afternoon to find Daniel(7) with an electrical cord plugged into the wall...the other end cut off with bare wires. Now, remember, Daddy has taught his boys to have a healthy respect for electricity. We often give our children old appliances to take apart and study for fun. I gave Daniel a tart warmer that I didn't want anymore, cut the plug off and threw THAT in the garbage. He must have pulled it out. So, that said, I find Daniel playing with the cord. I ran up to him yelling "unplug it! NOW!" He unplugged it quickly and said "I know not to touch the wires, mamma, but if you touch the wires to flys on the window, it makes them do donuts!" (donuts=spin in circles at a high rate of speed. A new word introduced into the childrens vocabulary when Daddy took us into an icy parking lot in our 15 pass van and did "donuts" around and around and around)

Emma(5), "Don't worry Micah, I don't think I have hydrophobe." She had a touch of the flu and I had to reassure her that is not what she had. Emma watches Old Yeller waaaaaay too much.(hydrophobia aka rabies is why Old Yeller died, she is sure any animal who looks sick has hydrophobia) :)

Just the kids and I were going to a friends house the other night. I had been driving the van for a good half an hour, in the dark, in the country, listening to a book on tape when Daniel calls out, "Mom?" "Yes, Danny?" ...silence...."Danny? Did you call me?"..."Oh yeah..I just wanted to make sure you were still there." Silly boy. :)

Jessica(9), Jacob(7) and Daniel(5) were playing house in a tent they built downstairs. I overheard Jessica saying "O.k., let's pretend you boys are the little brothers and I am the oldest sister and we will play house..." ...not a lot left to the imagination...

Emma(4) was "playing" her Kazoo to the tune of Happy Birthday for her older brother Jacob when Daniel(6) swung around the corner and said "Emma, you need to take that thing in and get it tuned...it sounds terrible!"

Emma(5) "Mamma? Can I marry my baby sister? She is so cute."

Daniel(7) "Mamma? Do babies, like Gracie, can they say stuff in their mind, like words?"

Mamma "No, Danny, not yet" Daniel "Man....it must be boring in there."

Emma(5) "Mamma? Can I marry Daddy when I grow up? I really want to marry Daddy someday, then we can be sisters!" ..hmmm where do you start?

Daniel(11) "Mom, I feel sorry for our chickens. They have to go into labor every single day."
