Danny spiked a fever, then Micah dropped, then Emma dropped. I'm rapping my fingers on the table waiting for the next one. They all started with a complaint of a headache(fever had already set in). We had a wonderful new family at church coming for dinner tonight and we had to cancel, I felt so bad! I was soooo looking forward to socializing.
Let's see if this hits five....do I hear six...all seven? This time I will not utter those prideful words, "I won't get it, I never do" Boy, did I learn my lesson three weeks ago.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love mothering sick kids! The house can go to pot, corndogs for dinner, laundry can pile up(oh wait, I did it all Monday) and life can be paused to rock, wrap in blankets, push water, take temps, fluff pillows, clean up throw-up and comfort a whimpering child...this is what the Lord has taught me I am here for. It took years of patience on His part, and my childrens, but He finally got this one thing through to my head...for the time being. Serving the ones I love is my calling in life and truly fulfils.
"Truly, truly, I say to you,
unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies;
it remains alone, but if it dies, it bears much fruit."

Ohhh, I hope they all get better, and that nobody else gets sick as well!!!!!!
This is going to sound just terrible but we too have brought home illness from church more times than I can count and now I have a theory. It's because older people don't wash their hands. It's true, people with kids are constantly washing the yuck from their own hands and their kids' but the elderly hardly ever wash their hands and at my church that's who my kids always go straight to, the old couple who gives them peppermints:)
:-( I LOVE 'mothering' sick children as well! Though I'd prefer it to be the regular, and not the stomach, flu :-P
