Our children had this amazing ability to adapt to cold temps and rain. They all biked like the sun was blazing. Short sleeves, even in shorts. I, however, do mind. Sitting in my trailer with the thermostat set at a cozy 73 degrees all week, I cant complain too much. Our neighbors, who were in tents, had to listen to our heater kicking on and off all night. Poor silly tenters.
Miker roasting a stick.
Our church, Silver Beach Community, is not a huge church by any means, but we are a family. We love our church as we looked high and low and still can not find anything to compare to it. We travel 35 minutes one way, others traveling farther. Our church reserved the entire Silver Lake Horse Camp for the weekend and by Friday almost every spot(I am pretty sure every one) was doubled up with two families per spot. That is a LOT of campers.
Almost every picnic table was teeming with excellent conversation. Families that have raised children who are truly serving the Lord with their lives. That is gold. We never heard gossip or a topic that didn't lead back around to the Lord or how to serve Him better. Paul and I were talking on the way home about how rich the lessons were that we both learned this week from the older people or how the Lord gave us the chance to come along side another father or mother to offer encouragement and advice.
A Family Tradition. Fresh huckleberry pancakes every morning. The children go out the night before and pick a cup of huckleberries from the woods and I start cooking huckleberry pancakes, sausage and eggs right before they get up. Yum!! By the end of the week our children had tantalized the tastebuds of many other children in camp who went home and asked their mamma's to make them too!
Daddy - "You catch'em, you clean'em"
Jacob stomached it well.
Two in the fold down kitchen table. Yes, they are fake sleeping. They were so excited the only thing to help them sleep was to turn out all the lights.
And one overly-eager three year old in the bunk bed up top. He was so giddy to be camping. He played so hard when I put him down to nap at 2pm every day, he never argued and crashed with in minutes.
So that's how we fit.
As soon as Daniel turns 9, the boys will be out in a tent.
The SBCC Olympic Games. I don't know how many years they have been doing this, but we all meet at 2pm on Saturday for over 2 hours of games and fun. Gobs and gobs of happy children cheering one another on, helping each other and learning to glorify God in their winning and loosing. Sportsmanship, compassion, and encouragement can gain you enough points to put your team in first. Winning teams are announced later that night and gold, silver and bronze medal necklaces are handed out for the children to wear.
Micah and his friend Henry were comparing *big muscles*. I had the young men turn and show me their muscles for a picture, of which they were eager to show off.
Emma racing with water in a cup.
The End.
Time for a nap in MY bed after cleaning that NASTY ring from around the tub from bathing six FILTHY, but satisfied children.
