Finally, after many cold mornings of tromping around the irrigation ponds and ditches, he shot his first duck!
A Mallard hen who made us some incredible duck jerky…mmmmm….more duck please.
That was one happy young man.

Emma reading a story to her little siste…chicken. Yes, folks, she was honestly reading a book to her chicken, The Speckledy Hen, no less. It even came packed in a crate with us to Thanksgiving dinner. <sigh>
Since I finally found my camera cord, we had fun with pictures today. I love the circle of heads and have had this *pose* with all my children for years on my cell phone. LOVE it.
Lyddybug is even getting in on the fun! She is such a ham.
As I was taking the picture, I was thinking hokey pete that’s a lot of children!

Love it! I often think that when I see another family with 6 or 7 children but then when it's just mine it really doesn't seem like that much! Congrats on the Duck!! Blessings to your family.
Congratulations on all of your patience! I've been hanging on to your quote of character development
Great pictures and awesome job on the duck!
I LOVE this post!!! Such cute kiddos and a very happy young man!
Below is just a note because I love you and I don't have a little sister to pick on/tease. ;-)
Um...how many ducks did you get rid of earlier this year?

I love this post! Cute kids, a happy chicken, and a very pleased young man!
The next part of my comment is because I love you (and your fam) and I don't have a sister to pick on/tease...
Um, didn't you have some ducks earlier this year? Might that have been a duck of jerky for each of those cute kiddos?
Jen, Eat your animals! They're tasty.
Ummm...ya...about those ducks. They kinda became too pet-like and there was no way Jacob could butcher them. That and the fact that those *domestic* ducks fetched a pretty penny on CL and are now swimming happily on some lady's private pond ;)
We have a problem with talking big, then falling in love with some animals and they stay in the pasture waaaaay too long!
The neat thing is that Jacob is a provider(hunter) but still very tender and loving, great character traits for a future dad. Keep up the training, you're doing great!
