Thankful

Thankful this weekend is over. ;) The Youth Fair was a great hit with the children Friday and Saturday. From 9-5 we stayed at the Fair walking from the meat sheep to chickens to photography groups. All four children came home very inspired and excited for what they learned in a very short time. They are already deciding on next year.
Daniel learned how to administer sub q and intramuscular shots by shooting up an orange multiple times. He learned sheep are born with long tails, how to trim hooves, card a sheep, clean ears, about different breeds and whatnot. Danny and his borrowed sheep took third place in the ring, pretty good for showing an animal you have no experience with! He would have taken second or first, but when the judge asked the handlers to position themselves on the other side of the sheep, instead of walking around the sheep, he jumped over it's back in the RING. Whoops, that gave him a third, lol.
Paul came home Friday night to a message on our answering machine from a stranger asking Paul if he'd do some welding in trade for a sheep...no kidding.
Jess did many fun scavenger hunts taking pictures of required items, learned how to avoid red eye and avoid flash when take pictures through window, and her highlight was after bring in three pictures each student had taken the teacher told Jess her butterfly picture was "flawless" and had no critiquing of it! That made her weekend.
Jacob and Emma learned more about a chicken than you think there is to know. Emma was pulled up front at the beginning of the rewards ceremony and commended as an encouraging and thankful young lady, that made her Mamma's heart smile. :) Thank you Lord. Jacob took 1st, best of breed and best of variety with his Old English Bantam rooster. Again, pretty good for a greenhorn handler. Emma's hen, Stacy, took a third place. We told Emma it is too bad they do not judge on tameness, otherwise she would have taken a 1st. ;).
$20 for all four children to spend the weekend there and they came home with all that in prizes, feed buckets and posters..not to mention a good education. I didn't have my camera as Jessica and I share a memory card and, well, you can figure out why I didn't' have it.
I need to milk and feed little kids.
I...relish....Spring.
