Part II - It's a girl and another girl!

O.k., if you haven't read the previous post, you should now. This is Part II. We are off to the Youth Fair in Lynden so I really need to go, but we had a surprise last night. Our goat kidded at 3ish pm yesterday and we really waited for a triplet. Every sign total us that she was done, she passed a placenta, she was happily nursing and resting, no contractions, yet when we "bounced" her belly, there were bones in there. I had my suspicions she had triplets all along ;) Long story short, at 10:30pm I was sure there was another one, even though everything appeared done. I felt it and it was most likely dead, but she needed it out. After many calls, much advice and brainstorming from my WONDERFUL friend Mindy, she told me to call the vet. He told me to "go in there"(WHAT?) and check for kid parts. I will spare you the details, but I found two front legs and carefully pulled them out. I tried to pull the kid but it's neck was complete backwards to where I could not maneuver it through.

Here enters my friend Mindy. She jumped into he back of my truck with my goat at about 11:30pm and road to the vet office. I would have done that, but she can't drive a stick, what a terrible friend I am! The tired vet was there, he did his thing and after 9 hours of being stuck in mamma, out pops a LIVING baby boy. A living baby with a very sore neck. The vet agreed there was no way I was going to pull this kid, and trust me, after watching what he did, there was NO way. Junie got a shot for pain relief(which I should have had) and home we went with our triplet. Mindy stayed until 1:30am to help us get that baby going. I'm telling you Mindy, you are a treasure. Thank you.

Wow! What a story and what a miracle that the baby goat was still alive. Thank goodness you followed through on that feeling of something more.

I can't wait to pet these adorable little creatures.

That was an exciting adventure, thanks for the wonderful memories! Won't it be fun to someday tell our grandchildren about the time we had!

The funny thing is that we have a few stories now. I wonder what our next adventure will be? Glad you are blogging our memories!
